Provide services to individuals with visual impairments, including career counseling, job placement and postplacement services, independent living skills training, recreation classes, a volunteer program, and the Visionary Store with adaptive technology products. Will convert documents into Braille for a fee.

NFB will provide a free cane to anyone in the fifty states, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico who is blind or has low vision and who uses or desires to use a white cane in order to travel independently. Screen children for visual acuity and strabismus, and adults for glaucoma and vision loss. Provide new eyeglasses to low-income and homeless persons at a nominal fee. Host support groups and lectures.
Accessible audiobook library for students with disabilities such as visual impairment or dyslexia. Titles available in every subject area and grade level.
Wide variety of services for people with disabilities, their families, and caretakers. Services include large print books, closed captioned videocassettes, descriptive videos, magnifiers, and talking books.
Supply corneas and other eye tissue for sight-restoring transplant surgery. Also recover such tissues as bone, ligaments and tendons (musculosketal tissue) that restore mobility, as well as skin used in burn and reconstructive surgery, heart valves to correct cardiac conditions, and saphenous veins to remedy circulatory problems.
Vision aids, tools, and technology. Resources and devices for greater independence. Offer private sessions in the office or you can request a home visit for a demonstration of a specific aid or appliance.
Inpatient services and outpatient care including pre-operative and post-operative, as well as patient education. Wilmer's Eye Emergency Service is the designated eye trauma center for the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services System and delivers 24-hour-a-day care for blunt, penetrating, chemical, and other eye injuries.
