Montgomery County Fallen Heroes of the Korean War

We proudly remember and pay tribute to our fallen soldiers
who have died in service to our country.

Army Pfc Jay Thomas Ballenger, 17, of Montgomery County, MD. Ballenger was killed in action in Yangpyong, South Korea. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division. Died March 7, 1951.

Army Cpl Claude Hicks Belcher, 22, of Montgomery County, MD. Belcher was killed in action in Hoengsong, South Korea. He was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division. Died February 12, 1951.

Army Pvt Marshall Donald Bolton, 23, of Montgomery County, MD. Bolton was killed in action in North Korea. He was assigned to the 45th Infantry Division. Died January 12, 1952.

Army Pfc Charles T. Compton, 19, of Montgomery County, MD. Compton died while as a prisoner of war in South Korea. He was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division. Died May 29, 1951.

Army Pfc Robert E. Fink, 19, of Montgomery County, MD. Fink was killed in action in South Korea. He was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division. Died August 6, 1950.

Army Pfc James H. Fling, Jr., 20, of Montgomery County, MD. Fling was killed in action in South Korea. He was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division. Died July 16, 1950.

Army Pfc Frank J. Gossmann, 22, of Montgomery County, MD. Gossmann died of wounds suffered during combat in North Korea. He was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division. Died October 14, 1952.

Army 2LT Frederick Sprigg Hays, Jr., 24, of Montgomery County, MD. Hays was killed in action in North Korea. He was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division. Died September 22, 1952.

Army Sgt Grayson Lee Mathis, 19, of Montgomery County, MD. Mathis died while missing in action in North Korea. He was assigned to the 7th Infantry Division. Died December 3, 1950.

Army 1LT Dan I. McKeithen, Jr., 24, of Montgomery County, MD. McKeithen was killed in action in North Korea. He was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division. Died March 15, 1953.

Army Cpl Kermit Q. Prather, 22, of Montgomery County, MD. Prather was died while as a prison of war in North Korea. He was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division. Died April 21, 1951.

Army 1LT Louis John Storck, 24, of Montgomery County, MD. Storck was killed in action. He was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division. Died October 6, 1952.
