The Silver Spring Transit Center is currently expanding the existing transit center and redeveloping the property adjacent to the WMATA Metrorail Station located in downtown Silver Spring, MD - adjacent to Colesville Road and Wayne Avenue. For bus operations during construction of the Transit Center, a location for an Interim Operations Site (IOS) has been selected in the block of Ramsey, Bonifant, Wayne and Dixon, immediately adjacent to the Transit Station. Below are maps of the Silver Spring area that include all newly located bus bays and walking instructions on how to locate the bus bays from either the Silver Spring Metro or the MARC Train.

Crossing guards will be on duty Monday through Friday, from 6:30am to 9:30am and from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Uniformed police officers will be onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
- Silver Spring Urban District team of Red Shirts to escort you to your vehicle, Bus Stop or Metro. Call the Escort Trip Request Hotline to request an escort: 240-876-2911 (V) during the hours of 6:00 a.m. to midnight, 7 days per week. Program this number into your cell phone if you use this Metro stop, and may need an escort.
- Braille signage at all bus stops.
- Accessible pedestrian signals at most cross roads.

Our team in the Red Shirts are on duty from 6:00am to midnight, 7 days a week, and are working hard to serve "U"! Services include:
- Escort to your vehicle, Bus Stop or Metro. Call the Escort Trip Request Hotline to request an escort: 240-876-2911 (V).
- Answer questions and provide directions
- Help solve problems
- Maintain public amenities
- Patrol parking garages
- Serve as extra eyes and ears for the community

Commuter Express Store in Silver Spring Has a New Name and New Location!
On Monday, September 8, Montgomery County's Silver Spring Commuter Express Store will be getting a new name – TRiPS – and a new location at 8413 Ramsey Avenue. TRiPS stands for “Transportation Resources, Information and Places to See”
Soon, Silver Spring will have a brand new state-of-the-art transit facility, the Silver Spring Transit Center (SSTC). In preparation, the former Silver Spring Commuter Express Store has a new name, a new look and a new convenient location to assist you with your commute.
Existing transit system riders, new riders and visitors will receive assistance when purchasing fare media or making connections to regional public transportation. And our walk-up window and accessible ramp allow for quick and easy service.
Be a Savvy Commuter - Visit TRiPS on the corner of Wayne and Ramsey Avenues!
