CRISIS CENTER
Crisis Intervention
A crisis can happen to anyone at any time and can range from involvement in a major community disaster, such as a train wreck, to bereavement, or to the loss of a job. The Crisis Center is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist Montgomery County residents of all ages as they work through their personal crises.
The center is staffed by a team of professionals including counselors, clinical social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists. Both telephone and walk-in services are available. Translation services are available in more than 20 languages.

Psychiatric Evaluation
The psychiatric evaluation at the Crisis Center is a three stage process. First, you will meet with a community mental health counselor who will discuss and assess your immediate needs. Second, you will meet with a therapist for a more thorough clinical evaluation. Finally, if needed, an appointment with a psychiatrist will be scheduled to complete your evaluation.
The Crisis Center has a full-time psychiatrist and 24-hour psychiatric backup, as needed. After a face-to-face interview with one of our therapists, sessions with a psychiatrist are scheduled, if necessary, and may occur on a different day.
Medication can often be helpful for a variety of mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia and others. If medication is indicated, our psychiatrist can assist you in making an informed decision.
