CRISIS CENTER
Suicide Assessment and Intervention

Crisis Center Operations Room

Crisis Center therapists and counselors provide consultation, assessment and intervention for adults, adolescents and children.  Services are available 24 hours a day, and may include telephone, walk-in, emergency room consultation, and mobile crisis response in the community.  Individuals served may include:

  •  Individuals at risk for suicide, as demonstrated by suicidal statements or behaviors;

  •  Individuals  experiencing depression, anxiety or other conditions who may be at future risk for suicide;

  •  Family members, friends, and employers concerned about someone who may be at risk for suicide;

  •  Children and adolescents referred by local schools after school personnel become aware of possible suicide risk;

  •  Survivors of individuals who have completed suicide;

  •  Mental health professionals or other health care providers seeking professional consultation.

Crisis Center staff will assess and intervene as indicated, attempting to engage the individual in treatment in the least restrictive manner which is clinically appropriate.  In cases in which the individual is imminently suicidal, and is unwilling to voluntarily accept treatment, Crisis Center therapists can issue an Emergency Evaluation Petition to ensure that the individual is evaluated at a local hospital.  Other treatment options may include:

  •  Short-term crisis stabilization treatment (with referral for ongoing treatment);

  •  Psychiatric evaluation to consider whether medication is needed;

  •  Referral to other treatment providers;

  •  Admission to a Triage and Evaluation Bed at the Crisis Center;

  •  Voluntary hospitalization;

  •  Stress management for survivors of suicide.
