How to request a referral:
Phone referral service:
LOCATE Child Care is a free service available through Maryland Family Network and funded by the Maryland State Department of Education. If you need assistance finding child care contact LOCATE Child Care, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 877-261-0060. Language interpretation service is available upon request. If you would like to expedite the process by filling out an online child care request form, please click HERE to obtain the form and information about where to send it.
Conduct your own search:
If you are too busy to call you can search for licensed child care providers in Montgomery County using the Maryland Family Network’s on-line database at www.mdchildcare.org. The database contains a listing of all licensed family child care providers, child care centers, nursery schools, school-age programs and camps. You’ll also find information on how to choose quality child care programs.
Special Needs Assistance:
LOCATE has an enhanced service for children with special needs. There are counselors who work with families of children with special needs such as developmental delays, behavioral issues, and/or physical/medical conditions. If you would like to learn more about this service, please call 1-800-999-0120.
School-Age Programs:
For assistance locating programs for school-age children you can contact LOCATE: Child Care at 877-261-0060. In addition, you can find information on a variety of school-age activities at the After-School Activities database on the Maryland Family Network’s website at http://www.mdafterschool.org. The After-School database contains information on over 2,200 after-school programs, including all regulated after-school programs in the state of Maryland. The database contains information on the cost, hours of operation, location, program description, and more. All programs in the database are regularly monitored by the appropriate agencies. You can search for programs by county, school or town within the county.
