The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has announced that they were awarded federal stimulus funds to allow for the extension of the the Infants and Toddlers Program (Part C) services and the Individualized Family Services Plan (IFSP) beyond age 3 to kindergarten entry. As part of this option, at age 3, children and their families can choose to continue to receive services of the Infants and Toddlers Program that include family-centered early intervention services in their own communities and natural environments.
Children currently enrolled in the MCITP with a 3rd birthday of February 1, 2010 or later AND who are found eligible for (Part B) special education services will have the option of continuting an IFSP OR moving to a special education Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Children birth to three years old and their families who reside in Montgomery County. |
 |
Ongoing early intervention services are provided when there is a 25% delay in at least one area of development, atypical development, or a high probability of delay due to a diagnosed medical condition. |

| Services Provided |
|
|
|
Services are provided in the natural environment (home, child care center, family child care home, pre-school, parks, supermarkets, and other community settings). |
|
Evaluation and assessment are conducted for children when there is a concern about the achievement of a developmental milestone. |
|
Children who are eligible for services receive early intervention services through an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) designed to achieve outcomes determined by the early intervention team which includes the family and other providers. |
|
Early intervention services include family centered interventions from a speech/language therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, special educator, social worker, interim and on-going service coordinator,infant/adult mental health specialist, and psychologist. |
