Montgomery County has a strong tradition of supporting high quality early care and education and parent support services to promote school readiness. Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Early Childhood Services provides a wide variety of programs for families and young children, and partners with many community-based agencies to create a comprehensive system of services. Among the direct services offered in MCDHHS Early Childhood are:

  Child Care Resource and Referral Center

Works with parents, child care providers, businesses, and community members to help promote the availability of quality child care services in the county and state. The R&R provides parents with child care referrals and information on evaluating quality child care. The R&R also offers child care providers training and support services to establish and improve their programs. For more information, click here.

 ChildLink 

An entry point for a wide variety of services and supports offered to children birth to age five and their families. Call 240-777-4769 (GROW). To access the flyer, click here (English, Spanish)

 Infants and Toddlers

Provides assessment and intervention services for children 36 months of age and under.To find out more, click here.

 Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation

Provides consultation services for child care programs in order address concerns about young children's behavior and social emotional development. To access the flyer, click here (English, Spanish)

 Child Care in Public Space

Provides opportunities for organizations to operate child care programs in County buildings. Organizations are selected for each location through a competitive bidding process. For more information click here.

 Commission on Child Care

Advises the County Executive and County Council on policies relating the accessibility of quality, affordable child care in Montgomety County. For more information click here.
