Plan Background:
The Great Seneca Plan is in progress and will create a renewed vision for communities in the heart of the I-270 Corridor between Rockville and Gaithersburg. The plan focuses on strengthening the economic competitiveness of the Life Sciences Center, a major economic and employment hub and a globally known center for the science and technology-driven industries, through mixed-use development, public realm improvements, equitable access, and implementation strategies. The plan also offers recommendations for the Londonderry and Hoyle’s Addition area to encourage additional housing, local-serving retail, public open spaces, and transit connections.

Recent activity
On February 1, staff presented the plan’s Working Draft to the Montgomery Planning Board. View the Planning Board presentation
Following the Board’s review of the Working Draft, staff released the Public Hearing Draft and associated appendices.

Coming up next:

The Planning Board scheduled a livestreamed public hearing on Thursday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the Second Floor Auditorium of the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD 20902) to get feedback from community members and other stakeholders on the Public Hearing Draft. The public hearing is a great opportunity for the Planning Board and the public to hear what you love about the plan and what needs more work. You can sign up to testify live at the hearing either in-person or online or submit written testimony to the Planning Board via email
