Referrals for Legal Assistance
The following four referral programs are from the Montgomery County Bar Association.
Lawyer Referral, 301 279-9100 Refers any caller for initial consultation & referral at a fee set by the Bar Association. They connect caller, via conference call, directly with an attorney. After initial consultation, the caller & attorney work out further representation, costs, etc .
Lawyer Referral Reduced Fee Program, 301 279-9100 Refers low-income callers for reduced cost initial consultation & referral at a fee set by the Bar Assoc. They connect caller, via conference call, directly with an attorney willing to offer a reduced fee. After consultation, the caller & attorney work out further representation, costs, etc. Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 noon & 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Pro Bono Program, 301 424-7651 Provides free legal representation to low income Mont. Co. residents. Accepts most types of civil cases. Fee-generating cases are not accepted. Apply by telephone.

Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service 1 800 510-0050 Provides free or reduced fee representation to low-income individuals and non-profits throughout Maryland who have civil legal problems.
Conflict Resolution Center of Montgomery County 301 942-7700 Trained volunteers provide free mediation. Will mediate wide variety of issues.
Diocesan Legal Network 202 628-4263 Catholic Charities of Washington, 924 G Street NW, Washington, DC Spanish line: 202 772-4325 Volunteer attorneys give free legal help to low-income residents of DC & MD for domestic relations (child custody & support, domestic violence, & divorce, housing, employment, debt/bankruptcy, guardianship, immigration, public benefits, will/probate.

Coalition For Fair Contracting 1 800 530-2021 Assists workers having wage issues with contractors having Federal contracts.
Maryland Workers Compensation Commission 1 800 492-0479 In charge of fair implementation of Workers Compensation regulations. DOES NOT PROVIDE LEGAL SERVICES.
Office Of Human Rights Of Montgomery County 240 777-8450 Investigates discrimination cases in Montgomery County.
American Civil Liberties Union, National Capital Area 202 457-0800 Only deals with civil rights cases that will set precedents & have a far-reaching impact.
Family Law
In cases of spousal abuse, the Montgomery County Crisis Center has counseling and assistance. Call 240 777-4000, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Pro Se Project 50 Courthouse Square, Room 207, Rockville MD 20850 Attorneys assist people to represent themselves in domestic cases. Spanish/English. Mon – Fri 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. First come, first served. No telephone.
