Troubleshooting Remote Access to Online Resources

  • You must have a library card registered with Montgomery County Public Libraries to use online resources from home or work. Enter your 14-digit library card number without any spaces.
  • You will also need the PIN associated with your card. The default PIN the library sets is the 4 digits of your birth year. We encourage you to customize your PIN, which can be 4 to 10 characters long, to protect your library account. If you don't know your PIN and the default does not work, call Ask-a-Librarian at 240-777-0001 to have it reset. Any staff member at our branches can also reset your PIN, but we cannot do it by email or by electronic chat.
  • We recommend you use a current version of your web browser. Some features may not be available with older browsers.
  • Cookies and Javascript must be enabled in your web browser settings.
  • Security settings in your web browser should be set no higher than Medium.
  • If you experience a problem, please delete your browser's Temporary Internet Files (also called "cache") before trying again. Here are instructions for deleting the cache for various browsers.
  • We are using EZproxy software to authenticate our users to our online resources. Some corporate, government, or military networks may block access. Please ask your network administrator to allow access to http://proxy.montgomerylibrary.org:2048. The network administrator may want to read about EZproxy.

If you are still unable to connect to one of the online resources, please use this form to report technical problems.
