The exterior design of the new Silver Spring Library building has been approved and was “unveiled” by the County Executive at the Silver Spring Library Bookfest on Saturday, October 24. The design was presented to the community at a public charrette on Saturday, November 7, 2009.
Public Charrettes about the Library's Exterior Design
Five charrettes were held between April and November, 2009, to obtain community feedback on the exterior building and open space design for the Silver Spring Library and to present the final approved design. Program of Requirements, revised May 2009. This document has been signed by the Director of the Department of Public Libraries and is currently being circulated through the Department of General Services and the Office of Management and Budget for final signature. The document will be considered a “draft” until the signature process is complete; no further revisions to the document are possible at this time.
