Ideas from July 15th Meeting:
Excel Spreadsheet with the list of ideas generated by the 90 individuals who attended the July 15th public meeting
The welcome and introductions for that meeting were made by Silver Spring Regional Services Center Director Gary Stith and the meeting was facilitated by the Library Department’s Public Services Administrator for Facilities and Strategic Management Rita Gale. Library Director Parker Hamilton, Silver Spring Branch Manager Dan Beavin, Jim Stiles and Don Scheuerman from the County Department of General Services, Rod Henderer from RTKL and Bill Evans from The Lukmire Partnership, Inc. (architectural firm) were also present.
The Excel document has four “sheets”:
- BEST and LIKE: ideas suggested for the best features/aspects of the current library,
- DON’T LIKE: what individuals disliked about the current library,
- WANT: programs or services individuals wanted to be considered for the new building.
- EMAIL SUGGESTIONS lists the ideas received to date on the email account the Library Department has specifically set up to receive public feedback on the new library.
Please note that the statement “(much support for this)” following an idea is only meant to indicate that there was general applause from the audience when the idea was expressed, and does not mean that there were many individuals who expressed the idea at the meeting.
