Suspending, Unsuspending, and Editing Holds

If you will be unavailable to pick up library materials you are waiting for or if you are not ready to receive them, you can suspend your holds.

While your hold is suspended, you will continue to move up in the hold queue, but the title will not become available for you until the unsuspend date. On that date or thereafter, when you reach the top of the queue, your hold will be filled.

Please Note: Interlibrary loan requests from MARINA and OCLC cannot be suspended. Also, holds for e-books cannot be suspended.

Suspend Holds
  • Log in to My Account with your library card number and PIN.
  • Click on Review My Account.
  • Edit individual holds using the Edit Hold buttons to the right of each hold, or edit multiple holds at once by clicking Edit All Holds at the bottom of your holds list.
  • To edit multiple holds, click the check boxes beside the items you wish to suspend.
  • Click on the down arrow in the “Pickup at” box and select the library where you wish to pickup your holds.
  • Click on the calendar icon next to the “Begin Suspend Hold” box. Modify the start and end dates to your needs (if the end date is NEVER the hold will remain suspended indefinitely). Please make sure that both the begin and end dates are in the future.
  • Click on the “Edit Selected Holds” button.
  • Click OK. This returns you to the “My Account” page. Please double check the hold suspension dates to make certain they are correct. If they are incorrect, follow the procedures again to suspend the holds.
Unsuspend Holds
  • Log in to My Account with your library card number and PIN.
  • Click on Review My Account.
  • Edit individual holds using the Edit Hold buttons to the right of each hold, or edit multiple holds at once by clicking Edit All Holds at the bottom of your holds list.
  • To edit multiple holds, click the check boxes beside the items you wish to unsuspend.
  • Click on the down arrow in the “Pickup at” box and choose a library.
  • To unsuspend selected holds, click on the button to Edit Selected Holds and the start and end date will automatically be replaced with the word NEVER, which should be in capital letters.
  • Click OK. This returns you to the “My Account” page. Please check to make sure the hold suspension dates do not appear.

Edit a Hold Pickup Location

The pickup location for an item not yet available for you can be changed from your account online. However, for an item that is already available for you, please call the library branch where it is being held and ask to have it transferred.

  • Log in to My Account with your library card number and PIN. Select "My Account" in the top banner.
  • Click on Review My Account.
  • Edit individual holds using the Edit Hold buttons to the right of each hold, or edit multiple holds at once by clicking the Edit All Holds at the bottom of your holds list.
  • Check the box next to each title you wish to edit.
  • Select the branch you prefer from the drop-down menu.
  • Click on Edit Selected Holds.
