What is Childlink?
Childlink is a telephone line to help parents and
caregivers reach the services and resources they
need for their young children from birth to age five.
Callers can access a variety of services by calling
240.777.GROW (240.777.4769).
Service in Spanish is also available.
ChildLink operates as a triage system to handle
a variety of calls about young childrens' needs:
- Some calls might be answered with a very simple
referral to another service, for example, "How
do I find out about library story hours?".
- Other callers might need consultation on parenting
or child care issues: "How do I begin to toilet
train my two year old?" or "A four year
old in my family child care home is very aggressive.
What can I do?".
- Still other callers might be linked to early
intervention or home visiting programs that can
provide in depth services and follow up on an individual
basis.
