Through the combined efforts of
the Maryland Legislature and the Maryland Court of Appeals, a family law division concept
was developed to better serve the citizens of this state. While the Maryland Rules
Committee provided a basis for identification and handling of family law matters in
Maryland Rule 16-204, your Circuit Court has called upon the legal community, court
personnel and community-based service organizations and associated professionals to assist
in the plan to better serve the interests of our county. Extensive time has been devoted
to identification of family cases requiring services to make the court experience more
efficient and less disruptive to the lives of the litigants.
You may hear terms like
"differentiated case management" and the "one case-one master- one
judge" approach to this management. What these terms really mean is the assurance
that personnel familiar with the details of your particular case will address your
concerns. Our changing demographics will continue to demand the courts vigilant
attention to address the needs of this community. Check this site frequently for changes
and updates as we grow with Montgomery County.
