The primary commitment of the Montgomery County Circuit Court Law Library is to support the research activities of the court.

WHO MAY USE THE LIBRARY

The Montgomery County Circuit Court Law Library is open to anyone who can make use of its materials and services. Judges, attorneys, paralegals, students, residents of Montgomery County, and visitors to Montgomery County are welcome.

HOURS AND ACCESS

Library hours are 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

LIBRARY COLLECTION

The Law Library's collection of American Law is comprehensive in scope and rich in current and older materials. In addition to Maryland and Federal materials, the collection includes the National Reporter System as well as a variety of books needed in the practice of law and thorough legal research. The library has a varied collection of legal publications on CD-ROM.

LIBRARY SERVICES

COPIES: The Law Library has two copy machines available for public use at a cost of twenty cents per page. Patrons have the option of purchasing a copy card which allows them to make copies at a reduced fee.

FAX: The Law Library offers incoming and outgoing fax service. The cost for faxes within the U.S. is $1.00 per page.

CIRCULATION: Most materials cannot be checked out from the library.

REFERENCE: Library staff is available to answer questions regarding the library and its collection. Assistance with research is limited to directing patrons to appropriate sources and explaining how to use them. Library staff does not perform legal research, render legal opinions, and/or comment on court procedures. Research questions cannot be answered over the telephone.
