TO BE HIGHLIGHTED,
DEMONSTRATE OPERATIONS

Urban public safety enhanced by horse and bike patrols

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan will be joined by Elizabeth Kreiter, chief of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Montgomery County Division, Montgomery County Police Capt. Drew Tracy, commander, 3rd District, and a representative of the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce to highlight new aspects of public safety operations in the redeveloped downtown area of Silver Spring.

The new Silver Spring unit, which assumed operations on July 1, is the only fulltime mounted urban patrol in the County.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES:

Following brief remarks by officials, two mounted patrol officers will demonstrate training techniques.

Immediately following the event, the mounted and bike patrol officers will go on active patrol in downtown Silver Spring and will be available for interviews and shots at selected locations – Metro and by Fresh Fields and newly developed area on Fenton St. @ Wayne Avenue.
