                   COUNTY TO KICK OFF HISPANIC HERITAGE
                        MONTH ACTIVITIES; WORKSHOP,
                    LATIN-AMERICAN ART EXHIBIT FEATURED

     A multicultural workshop and an art exhibit will be featured during the County's
kick off to National Hispanic Heritage Month.  The workshop, entitled "Knowing
Yourself, Loving Yourself: Marks of Leadership in the Multicultural Workplace and
Community," will be  conducted by Lucy Negron-Evelyn, founder of the program El
Ingeniero and this year's recipient of the Maryland Governor's Commission on Hispanic
Affairs Award for Education.

     At 5 p.m., Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and WUSA-
Channel 9 Reporter Miriam Hernandez will unveil the lobby art exhibit "Expresiones
Artisticas," a collaboration of 17 Latin American artists.   

     Both programs are sponsored by the County Executive's Office of Community
Outreach, the Montgomery County Office of Human Resources' Diversity Program and
the Montgomery County Hispanic Employees Association.

NOTE TO EDITORS:  A reception and a cultural performance will also be featured at
5 p.m.
