Duncan Seeks Applicants For
Silver Spring Transportation System
Management Advisory Committee

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill six vacancies on the Silver Spring Transportation System Management Advisory Committee. Two vacancies (one full term and one partial term) must be filled by representatives of small businesses which employ less than 50 people in the Silver Spring business district. One vacancy must be filled by a Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce representative. One vacancy must be filled by a representative of a large business which employs 50 or more people in the Central Business District. Two vacancies, one for a resident of the Central Business District and one for a resident of the Kemp Mill-Four Corners area, are for members nominated by the Silver Spring Center Citizens Advisory Board. Four incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment.

The advisory committee monitors employer plans, proposes guidelines for lessening traffic, reviews traffic patterns and makes recommendations on commuting, parking and other related matters.

The committee consists of 12 voting members along with four non-voting members who represent the County's Department of Public Works and Transportation, Department of Police, the Planning Board and the Silver Spring Center. Members serve three-year terms without compensation, meeting the second Thursday of the month at 8 a.m. in Silver Spring. Additional meetings may be held as necessary.

Applicants should write by April 7 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume, including home and work telephone numbers, should be enclosed. Incumbents reapplying should indicate their employment status in their letter or send an updated resume. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.

Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
