ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE
FOR THE SPECIAL GENERAL ELECTION,
COUNTY COUNCIL DISTRICT 1
The Montgomery County Board of Elections is making the following information regarding absentee voting available to residents in Council District 1 who plan to vote in the Special General Election on April 18, being held to fill the County Council seat being vacated by Betty Ann Krahnke.
To obtain an absentee ballot application online, access the Board of Elections home page at www.co.mo.md.us/services/elections, click first on the link to "2000 Elections" and then the link to "Absentee Voting." Follow instructions for transmitting the completed application to the Elections Office by mail or fax.
To receive an absentee ballot application by other means, voters may call the 24-hour Absentee Voting Information Line at 240-777-8565 and leave their names and addresses on voice mail.
Absentee ballots may be used if voters meet one of the following guidelines: they will be absent from the County on election day; they have been in an accident, are ill or physically disabled; they are a full-time student; they are confined or restricted to an institution; they have had a death or serious injury in their immediate family.
Applications for absentee ballots must be received by April 11th. Faxed requests must be received by midnight on April 11th. After that date, absentee ballots may only be obtained in person at the Board of Elections. The Absentee Office is open from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily and will be open on Saturday, April 8th and April 15th from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.
Anyone acting as an agent for another voter, should call the Absentee Office at 240-777-8550 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or via e-mail at absentee@montgomerycountymd.gov.
