FREE PARKING AVAILABLE FOR
UPCOUNTY MARC TRAIN COMMUTERS
Plentiful free parking is available at the Germantown, Metropolitan Grove, and Barnesville MARC Commuter Rail Station parking lots for I-270 corridor commuters who want to avoid the high price of gas. Maintained by the County, the Germantown and Metropolitan Grove lots each have more than 250 spaces available, while the Barnesville station has 25 additional unused spaces.
MARC trains serve these stations every 20 to 30 minutes during the morning and afternoon rush hours, and most trains stop at Gaithersburg, Rockville, Kensington and Silver Spring on the way to Washington D.C.'s Union Station.
Last week, County and State officials celebrated the introduction of new higher-capacity bi-level passenger coaches on this rail line that will make commuting by rail more comfortable and convenient. County officials are encouraging residents to explore commuter options to reduce traffic congestion.
Information on MARC schedules and fares, including discounted monthly passes, is available from the MARC Rail System by calling 1-800-325-RAIL, or from the County's web site at www.dpwt.com. MARC passes are good for unlimited rides on Metrobus and the County's Ride-On buses, and a combined MARC/Metrorail pass is also available.
