WOMEN'S HISTORY QUILT UNVEILED
AT WOMEN'S FAIR; AVAILABLE FOR EXHIBIT

A colorful testimony to women's organizations in Montgomery County was introduced at the 20th Annual Women's Fair when the Women's History Quilt was unveiled by County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and Commission for Women President Anne Sanderoff-Walker.

More than 20 local women's organizations created squares for the quilt. They were pieced together by Sanderoff-Walker, owner of Designer Fabrications in Gaithersburg and Kathy Goodwin, master quilter and a program specialist at the Commission for Women.

"Throughout history, quilt-making has been an exciting way for communities to join together," said Sanderoff-Walker. "The Commission for Women has continued this tradition by bringing together county women's organizations to create a quilt honoring the history, celebrating the progress and envisioning the future for women and their families in Montgomery County."

The quilt will be on permanent display at the Commission for Women Counseling and Career Center, 255 N. Washington Street, Rockville. It will also be exhibited at the Executive Office Building in Rockville. In addition, the quilt will be made available for display to the organizations represented on the quilt during special occasions.

For more information about the quilt project, call the Montgomery County Commission for Women at 301-279-8301.
