TORRICO NAMED LATINO-HISPANIC
INITIATIVE MANAGER

Silver Spring resident Myriam Torrico was recently named Manager of the Hispanic-Latino Initiative for the Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA). Torrico was selected from a group of more than two dozen applicants, who were evaluated on the basis of their experience and qualifications in the field of community outreach. In this position, Torrico will work to expand the Department's outreach efforts within Montgomery County's Hispanic community.

"Nearly half of the state's Hispanic population lives here in Montgomery County, and we want to let them know about our many housing, consumer and community development programs," said DHCA director Elizabeth Davison. "We are fortunate to have found someone of Myriam Torrico's caliber to take on this important role."

The Department includes the Division of Community Development, including community revitalization efforts; the Housing Division, including code enforcement, loan programs and the Moderately Priced Dwelling Unit (MPDU) program; and the Consumer Affairs Division, including consumer protection and cable television management.

Prior to joining the County, Torrico served as vice president of operations for Delta Microsystems, Inc. and director of graduate medical education for the Washington Hospital Center. In addition, Torrico has more than 15 years of volunteer experience for organizations serving the Hispanic community in Montgomery County and the Washington metropolitan region.
