Public Forum
Set on Student Safety
Parents of school-age children and other members of the community are invited to attend a Forum of Student Safety to be held April 27 at Sherwood High School, 300 Olney-Sandy Spring Rd., Sandy Spring, beginning at 7 p.m.
The forum, sponsored by the Mid-County Citizens Advisory Board, the County Department of Health and Human Services and the Wheaton Neighborhood Network, will discuss approaches to help ensure that school is a safe place in which to learn.
A panel of experts, including representatives from the Montgomery County Public Schools and several private non-profit groups, will discuss the following topics: Anger - identifying and diffusing the angry student; Bullying/Harassment - more than "kids being kids;" Alcohol/Drug Use - prevention through intervention; and Conflict Resolution - creating positive change in relationships.
A question-and-answer period will follow the program and resource materials will be available. The program will be translated into Spanish.
