Duncan Seeks Applicants For
Juvenile Court Committee Vacancies
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is currently seeking applicants to fill seven full-term vacancies and three partial-term vacancies expiring in July 2001 on the Juvenile Court Committee. Seven members are eligible for reappointment.
The committee monitors the juvenile justice system and advises the County Executive, County Council and Juvenile Court on matters concerning juveniles. It is responsible for keeping both legislators and citizens informed about juvenile needs. The committee also is responsible for promoting the general welfare of juveniles under the jurisdiction of the court; for making budget recommendations affecting juvenile justice programs; and for making periodic visits to facilities in the State that serve County juveniles. Due to legislation which recently passed, the Juvenile Court Committee will be renamed the Commission on Juvenile Justice within ninety days. Members serve three-year terms without compensation. Meetings are held the third Tuesday evening of each month in Rockville.

A brief resume, with work and home phone numbers, should be enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council.
