Non-Profit Organizations May Be Eligible for
Federal Reimbursement for January Snow Removal Costs;
County's Emergency Management To Hold Briefing April 28

Private non-profit organizations in Montgomery County may be eligible for federal reimbursement of snow removal costs incurred during the January 25-26 snowstorm this year. Organizations could receive reimbursements of up to 75 percent for costs exceeding $1,000 under a Federal Declaration approved last week.

Organizations that can document their snow removal costs are encouraged to apply for reimbursement. To assist in that effort, Montgomery County's Office of Emergency Management will hold a briefing on Friday, April 28, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Council Office Building (first floor auditorium), 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville. Parking is available behind the building in a multi-level garage.

Participants should bring to the briefing copies of receipts and contractor invoices so officials can determine their eligibility for reimbursement. Application packets will be provided. Eligible non-profit organizations may include such facilities as group homes; homeless shelters; medical outpatient, rehabilitation and custodial care facilities; volunteer fire departments; search and rescue teams; museums; private libraries; senior citizen centers; hospitals; and day care centers.
