VALDEZ RESIGNS AS ELECTION BOARD MEMBER;
FERRARO ASSUMES POSITION

Montgomery County Board of Elections President Susan E. Bratten announced that Democratic board member Marlana R. Valdez has resigned.

"Due to an increasing professional workload, Marlana felt that she could no longer contribute the time and energy required of a board member," Bratten commented. "The Board has benefited from her insightful contributions and she will be missed."

In accordance with Maryland election law, Alan J. Ferraro, Democratic substitute board member, automatically assumes the position left vacated by Valdez. Ferraro has served as a substitute member of the Board since 1997. A new substitute Democratic board member will be appointed by the Governor based on the recommendation of the Democratic Central Committee.
