Public Invited to Comment on
County's Draft Housing Policy

The County's Department of Housing and Community Affairs (DHCA) is seeking comments on the draft of a new Housing Policy for Montgomery County. The policy will replace the County's current policy adopted in 1981.

The draft of the new Housing Policy for Montgomery County focuses on affordable housing production and on the maintenance and improvement of the County's existing communities. Many of the housing goals and objectives in the draft policy originated in the refinement of the County's General Plan in 1993.

The new Housing Policy for Montgomery County will provide guidance on the County's existing housing program and will make recommendations for new initiatives. After all comments are received and reviewed, the document will be revised and transmitted to the County Executive and County Council for consideration. Adoption of the new Housing Policy is expected in fall 2000.

Comments may be left on the DHCA web page or mailed to the Department until August 15, 2000.
