Volunteer Center Redesigns Web Site;
More than 2,000 Opportunities Listed
Individuals and groups looking for volunteer opportunities can now select from more than 2,000 listings on the Montgomery County Volunteer Center's redesigned web site - www.montgomeryvolunteer.org.
The new site also lists more than 600 agencies offering volunteer positions. Potential volunteers can search for specific jobs by entering keywords such as tutor, carpenter, camp counselor, etc.
In addition to information about individual volunteer opportunities, the site offers information for businesses, students, and retired and senior volunteers, as well as for persons preferring short-term volunteer projects. There is also information about special events and group projects and hints on how to write an effective volunteer description and how to use the services of the Volunteer Center.
Members of the business community may also link to a related web site CVCMC.org from the Volunteer Center site. The Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) promotes community service among local businesses by matching the resources of the business community with the needs of the non-profit and public agencies that serve County residents.
Any private, non-profit organization with IRS tax exempt status or any government agency may register with the Volunteer Center to attend one of the monthly orientations provided for organizations by calling 240-777-2600 or e-mailing the center through the web site -- www.montgomeryvolunteer.org.
