"Silver Screen Under the Stars" series
To be presented in Silver Spring

Classic comedies, a recent Disney hit and a Hitchcock classic thriller highlight this season's "Silver Screen Under the Stars" outdoor film festival to be held September 14 through 17 in downtown Silver Spring.

Films scheduled for showing are: "Young Frankenstein" on September 14; "Mulan," September 15; "Some Like It Hot," September 16; and "Vertigo," September 17.

News 4's Arch Campbell will kick off the event on opening night and WGMS-FM's Dennis Owens will serve as emcee the second evening.

Presented by the Silver Spring Urban District and sponsored by the AFI Discovery Documentary Film Festival, the series of films will offer pre-show activities for children, beginning at 7 p.m., featuring face painting and a clown. The films will begin at 8 p.m.

Picnics are welcome and moviegoers are encouraged to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs. Food vendors will also be on site.

"Silver Screen Under the Stars" will be held at the corner of Ellsworth Drive and Georgia Avenue in the newly-emerging heart of Downtown Silver Spring. Parking is available in nearby public garages. The site is also accessible from the Silver Spring Metro station.
