Duncan Seeks Applicants to Fill
Solid Waste Advisory Vacancies
County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill five vacancies on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee to be filled by representatives from the solid waste industry, business users and the general public. Four incumbents are eligible for reappointment.
The 15-member committee consists of citizens-at-large and professional representatives who provide advice to the Department of Public Works and Transportation on issues pertaining to solid waste management in the County. This includes evaluating the impacts from the Ten-Year Solid Waste Plan and the effects of solid waste programs on citizens, institutions, businesses, and industry. SWAC also recommends public education programs, as well as State and local legislation necessary to accomplish effective solid waste management.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation, usually meeting on the first Tuesday evening of each month in Rockville.
Applicants should write by September 29 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St., Rockville, MD 20850. A resume, including work and home phone numbers, should be enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
