Neighborhood History Workshops
Planned During September

The Montgomery County Archives is co-sponsoring a series of three workshops during the month of September designed to encourage documentation of neighborhood and family history. The workshops will be held on Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Community Center, 357 Frederick Avenue, Rockville.

The first workshop will take place on September 14 and is called "Documenting Your Neighbors and Families," presented by Maizie Cummings of Peerless Rockville Historic Preservation, Ltd., and David McCartney of the Montgomery County Archives.

The September 21 workshop is entitled "Hands-On Preservation Practices," and will be presented by Anita Powell, president of the Lincoln Park Historical Society. "How to Conduct Oral History Interviews," is the final workshop in the series and will be presented on September 28 by Pat Anderson of the Montgomery County Historical Society.

In addition to the County's Archives, co-sponsors of the workshops include the Lincoln Park Partners Project, a neighborhood history initiative of the Lincoln Park Historical Society; the United Black Cultural Center, Inc.; Peerless Rockville; the Montgomery County Historical Society; and the Rockville Regional Library.

The workshops are free. To register, call the Montgomery County Archives at 301-279-1218.
