NEW VENDOR LAW TAKES EFFECT SEPTEMBER 26
Beginning September 26, a new law takes effect in Montgomery County, allowing for confiscation or seizure of any goods that are being sold by an unlicensed vendor. Bill 11-00 affects vendors selling any goods, such as food, flowers, and crafts or providing services and it includes mobile food vendors, door-to-door vendors and vendors selling from sidewalks and median strips.
The law is designed to protect licensed vendors, who must unfairly compete with unlicensed ones or those who are not in full compliance with Montgomery County laws. The law will also increase public safety for vendors, pedestrians and motorists by preventing business transactions in the median or in lanes of traffic.
The Department of Permitting Services and the Montgomery County Police Department will be enforcing this new law.
