Duncan Seeks Applicants to Fill
Vacancies on Commission on Aging

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill eight vacancies on the Montgomery County Commission on Aging. Four incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment. Applicants must be county residents and seniors and non-seniors are encouraged to apply.

Serving as an advocate for the welfare of the County's elderly, the commission advises the County Executive, the County Council and the Department of Health and Human Services on the needs of seniors. Members usually serve a three-year term without compensation. Meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each month at the Holiday Park Senior Center in Wheaton from 9:15 a.m. to 12 noon. Commission members are expected to serve on a committee of the Commission as well. Each committee meets on the average of once a month, generally during the day.

Applicants should write by October 20 to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan at the Executive Office building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. A brief resume including home and work phone numbers should be enclosed. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.

Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
