Car Seat Safety Check
Scheduled for October 19

A free car seat check will be held on Thursday, October 19 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald Auto Mall, located at 5501 Nicholson Lane in Rockville (near White Flint Mall). Inspections will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Trained safety specialists will check car seats for proper installation, age/size appropriateness and to determine if the seats have been recalled or visibly damaged. According to the National Safe Kids Campaign, car seats, when correctly installed and used, are extremely effective in saving children's lives in automobile crashes, reducing the risk of death by as much as 71 percent. National studies, however, have found that more than 80 percent of car seats are installed or used incorrectly.

The car seat check is sponsored by Fitzgerald Automotive, Montgomery County and the Montgomery County SAFE KIDS Coalition.
