Montgomery County
Plans Veterans Day Ceremony

Montgomery County will honor the service of its U.S. veterans in a ceremony to be held on November 9, from 10:30-11:00 a.m., at the Executive Office Building's plaza (outside the cafeteria), 101 Monroe Street, Rockville. The public is invited to attend.

County Executive Douglas M. Duncan will offer welcoming remarks and honor veterans and all attending the event with special commemorative items. The Montgomery County Department of Recreation sponsors the Veterans Day Ceremony.

Colonel Erwin Burtnick, a member of the Maryland Veterans Commission and the Commander of the Department of Maryland's Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. will present a Proclamation from Governor Parris N. Glendening.

Police Officer Anita Wilkinson will sing the National Anthem, and Police Officer Joy Bartholomew will play taps.

Immediately following the ceremony, appetizers and refreshments will be served inside the cafeteria, and Reunion Blues, a five-piece swing band, will perform a program of patriotic music.
