OVER EIGHT TONS OF FOOD DONATED
DURING ANNUAL "GIVE AND RIDE" DRIVE
Passengers of Montgomery County's Ride On bus system donated over eight tons of food to needy families this holiday season during Ride On's annual "Give and Ride" food drive.
All food donations collected by Ride On went to the Manna Food Center, the County's official non-profit food distributor. According to Manna Food officials, this year's donations will feed about 200 families for a week.
"We want to thank passengers and bus operators for participating in this effort, and for their generosity and continuing support," said Carolyn Biggins, General Manager of Ride On. "Our annual food drive was a great success because riders have once again demonstrated that the true meaning of the holiday season is found through giving and sharing."
Ride On's annual "Give and Ride" food drive is held each year for one week prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. For a donation of canned or non-perishable food, the participating rider receives a free trip on a Ride On bus.
