Stith Named Director of
Silver Spring Regional Services Center

Montgomery County Chief Administrative Officer Bruce Romer has announced the appointment of Gary Stith as Director of the Silver Spring Regional Services Center.

"I'm happy to name Gary Stith as the new director of the Silver Spring Regional Services Center," said Romer. "He has served as the redevelopment manager in this office for the past five years and has performed admirably on behalf of the residents in Silver Spring. I'm confident that he will continue to do so in his new position as director."

Stith replaces Lori Gillen, who, for personal reasons, has decided to work in a part-time capacity on special projects in the urban district and the Silver Spring Regional Services Center. Gillen served as the director for two years. Before working in Silver Spring, Stith was a senior planning specialist in the County's Office of Planning Implementation. He has been serving as the acting director since August.

Stith holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Oklahoma State University and a master's degree in public administration and city planning from Ohio State University.

As director of the Silver Spring Regional Services Center, Stith will be responsible for the delivery of County government services in the Silver Spring/Takoma Park area. He will also be the point person for the County's ongoing revitalization efforts in downtown Silver Spring.

Stith assumed his new duties on December 4.
