WORKING PARENTS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
OFFERS FUNDS TO HELP PAY CHILD CARE COSTS

Need help in paying for childcare? The Montgomery County Working Parents Assistance (WPA) Program has funds available to help eligible County residents pay childcare costs, and there is currently no waiting list for services.

The cost of childcare is a major expense for families living in Montgomery County, with childcare costing an average of $4,200 per year. The WPA provides childcare subsidies to eligible single and two parent families who might otherwise not be able to afford childcare.

In order to qualify for the program, residents must work or attend school full-time and they must meet income guidelines. Single parents are also required to pursue child support payments through the legal system.

Eligible families receive vouchers, which may be used with licensed childcare providers in Montgomery County. Parents are responsible for negotiating payments with the provider.

The Working Parents Assistance Program is funded by the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.

To find out more about eligibility for the program, call the InfoLink Line at 240-777-1155.
