Montgomery County Historical Groups
Included on Libraries' Website

The Montgomery County Department of Public Libraries' web page now has information on 27 local historical organizations, museums and visitor sites.

The website address is: www.mont.lib.md.us/archives.html - click on "Other Resources," and "Local Historical Organizations." The website summarizes each organization's activities, hours of service, address, telephone number and, if available, e-mail address and a link to its web site.

Sites include the Agricultural History Farm Park, the Clara Barton National Historic Site, the Glen Echo Park Foundation and the National Capital Trolley Museum. Also featured are numerous local historical societies, including the Montgomery County Historical Society, Peerless Rockville Historic Preservation and the Kensington Historical Society.

"Montgomery County has a rich array of historic resources, and we're eager to help these organizations promote their treasures," said Rebecca Fitzgerald of the Montgomery County Archives, which coordinates the online list as part of its web site.

Representatives of historical organizations who wish to have their groups or sites listed may do so by contacting the Archives at 301-279-1218.
