PARK FREE AND RIDE FROM NORBECK/OLNEY AREA

A free Park and Ride lot with fast and frequent bus service to and from the Glenmont Metro will save residents money, while providing a convenient alternative to the overcrowded Glenmont Metro parking garage. Located in the northeast corner of Georgia Ave. and Norbeck Road, the underutilized Norbeck Park and Ride Lot has 250 available spaces.

Metrobus service on the Y7 route takes only 14 minutes from the Park and Ride lot to the Glenmont Metro, and leaves every 15 minutes in the morning. In the evening, Y7, Y8, or Y9 route buses run every seven minutes from the Glenmont station back to the parking lot.

Residents who use the Park and Ride lot will save $.90 a day. Since parking is free, residents pay only the roundtrip bus fare of $1.35 a day, compared to the $2.25 a day fee to park at the Glenmont station parking garage.

Since its opening in July 1998, the Glenmont Metro station has proven to be extremely popular and is now used by 8,500 riders every day. Currently the station's 1,800-space parking garage fills to capacity by 8 a.m. on weekdays.
