Montgomery County Firms Honored
For Grant Awards From Maryland
Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) Program

Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan today honored six Montgomery County firms who recently received grant awards of up to $70,000 from the Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) program. Duncan was joined by Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) program director Louis Robinson, Jr. at a breakfast reception held at the Maryland Technology Development Center (MTDC) in Rockville. Combined awards totaled more than $283,000.

The six companies honored were: BioSpace International of Gaithersburg; Hughes Network Systems of Germantown; Lockheed Martin Corporation of Bethesda; MedImmune of Gaithersburg; Mistral Security, Inc. of Bethesda; and RSI of Gaithersburg.

MIPS provides matching funds for research and development projects jointly proposed by Maryland companies in partnership with faculty at the University of Maryland and other institutions of the University of Maryland system. Projects are selected based on economic benefit, technical soundness and potential to stimulate the growth of industry in Maryland.

The event was co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, the Maryland Technology Development Center and the Maryland Industrial Partnerships program at the University of Maryland.
