VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE
COUNCIL DISTRICT 1 SPECIAL GENERAL ELECTION

Montgomery County residents residing in the Bethesda , North Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac areas wishing to vote in the April 18, 2000 Special General Election for Montgomery County Council District 1 are reminded that voter registration reopens on March 20, 2000. The deadline for voter registration for this special election is 9 p.m. on March 24, 2000.

Applications for voter registration may be obtained in County libraries; community services centers in Silver Spring, Bethesda, Gaithersburg and Wheaton; all offices of the County Department of Health and Human Services; Montgomery College; the state Motor Vehicle Administration; and all U.S. Post Offices. Residents can also register in person until 9 p.m., March 24, 2000 at the office of the Montgomery County Board of Elections at 751 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville.

Residents of Council District 1 wishing to vote by absentee ballot should apply soon by calling the Absentee Department at 240-777-8550 or the 24-hour Absentee Voting Information Line at 240-777-8565. The last day for receipt of an absentee application by mail is 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2000. Requests can also be faxed until midnight on April 11, 2000. After that date, absentee ballots can only be obtained in person at the office of the Board of Elections. Call for information regarding acting as an agent for another voter.
