Language Specific Immigration Workshops
On Changes in the Section 245 (i) of Immigration Act
Sponsored by Public Libraries, Community Groups
As a result of a recent changes in Section 245 (i) of the Legal Immigration and Family Equity Act of 2000 (LIFE Act), the Montgomery County Public Libraries are sponsoring a series of Language Specific Immigration Workshops in Spanish, English, Korean, and Vietnamese. Immigration attorneys will provide information on the implications of the new law and answer questions about the impact on immigrants. Approximately 20 percent of the residents living in Montgomery County are foreign-born.
The workshops, which will be presented from 7 to 8:30 p.m., will be held according to the following schedule:
April 2, Spanish, Silver Spring Library, 8901 Colesville, Rd.;
April 4, English, Twinbrook Library, 202 Meadow Hall Dr., Rockville;
April 5, Korean, Twinbrook Library; and
April 12, Vietnamese, Wheaton Regional Library, 11701 Georgia Ave.
The workshops are sponsored by the National Asian Pacific American Legal Consortium, the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs, Celia S. Rivas, Esq. (Centro Catolico), Yun Jung Yang, Esq.
