Duncan Seeks Applicants for
Facilities Implementation Group
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies on the Facilities Implementation Group. The vacancies are for residents of the affected community. The incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment.
The purpose of this group is to address community and environmental issues and concerns pertaining to the County's solid waste facilities located in the Dickerson area. These facilities include the Resource Recovery Facility, the Yard Trim Composting Facility, properties originally purchased for the Site 2 landfill, and property associated with the Linden Farm (formerly called the Matthews Farm).
Membership on this group includes 12 voting members, including representatives of Sugarloaf Citizens Association, For a Rural Montgomery (FARM), representatives from the towns of Poolesville and Barnesville, the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, the Upcounty Citizens Advisory Board, and six representatives of the affected community. Six non-voting members include representatives of the Operator of the Resource Recovery Facility, the Operator of the Dickerson Compost Facility, the Operator of the Dickerson PEPCO facility, the Department of Public Works and Transportation, the Department of Environmental Protection and the Maryland- National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
Members will serve three-year terms without compensation. Meetings are held at least quarterly at the Gotic Dairy Barn in Dickerson at 7:30 p.m.
Interested applicants should write to County Executive Douglas M. Duncan by April 27 at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street, Rockville, MD 20850. Applicants should include a brief resume including home and work phone numbers. Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time.
Duncan's appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of those selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
