Safe Kids Day To Be Held May 5
At Maryland SoccerPlex
Five tents of interactive safety lessons are among the activities scheduled at a free SAFE KIDS DAY on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maryland SoccerPlex near Germantown.
Children and their parents can learn about car safety; swimming safety; bike, scooter, rollerblade and skateboard safety; walking safety and playing safety. Children can also participate in Dribble, Pass and Shoot with DC United and meet the DC United mascot. Exhibits will be interactive and will include a 9-1-1 simulator, where children can practice making emergency phone calls; along with Grandma’s Safety House, where children can place safety devices in the appropriate locations.
Visitors will receive bags filled with giveaways and valuable safety information. There will also be raffles, and prizes will include a duffel bag filled with Discovery Channel gifts, bicycle helmets and smoke detectors.
SAFE KIDS DAY is sponsored by the Maryland SoccerPlex, the Montgomery County SAFE KIDS Coalition, Montgomery County Government, DC United, Discovery Communications, Fitzgerald Automotive, Holy Cross Hospital, Suburban Hospital and Johnson & Johnson.
To reach the SoccerPlex, take 270 north to Exit 15B (Route 118-Germantown). Follow 2.8 miles to Richter Farm Road and take a right. Follow to Schaeffer Road and turn left. The SoccerPlex entrance is .3 miles on the right.
