Free Small Business Seminars
To Begin at County Libraries

The Montgomery County Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in conjunction with the Montgomery County Department of Public Libraries will kick-off the Spring 2001 Small Business Seminar Series tomorrow evening. The first seminar, How to Develop a Business Plan, will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Wheaton Library and will be offered in Spanish.

The seminar is the first of ten free seminars being offered at various libraries throughout the County through June 2001.

“Building on the success of our previous Small Business Seminars, we are excited to once again offer this free series of seminars on a variety of topics that have proven very useful to our small business community,” said Ruth Semple, senior counselor at the Small Business Development Center. “One important new element this year is that we are offering two of the seminars in languages other than English – our first seminar will be conducted in Spanish and our last seminar will be conducted in Chinese – we hope this will encourage all members of our diverse business community to participate in and benefit from the seminar series.”

“The seminar series is an excellent way to better serve the needs of our small business community by providing useful information to current and prospective business owners, right in their own community libraries, said David Edgerley, director of the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development. “It is also a great way to get the word out about the many programs and services aimed at helping businesses succeed that are available at the County’s Small Business Development Center.”

The SBDC is part of the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, and operates under the guidance of the Maryland Small Business Development Center Network.
