County’s Fire Administrator to Deliver
Keynote Speech at Kickoff
of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

Montgomery County’s Fire Administrator, Gordon Aoyagi, will serve as the keynote speaker at the annual Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration on Thursday, May 3. Aoyagi is Montgomery County’s first civilian Fire Administrator and the only Asian American among Metro Fire Chiefs in the United States.

Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan and County Council President Blair G. Ewing will kick off the ceremony with the opening of a ceramic art exhibit. The ceremony, which will include a reception and entertainment, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the lobby auditorium of the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe Street in Rockville.

The art exhibit will run through May and will feature works by Hawaiian potter Ramon Camarillo. The kickoff ceremony will include musical performances by The Aloha Boys and a dance performance by The Madison Chinese Dance Academy. There will also be a martial arts demonstration, poetry reading and a fan dance performance.
