Duncan Seeks Applicants for
Silver Spring Civic Building Steering Committee
Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan is seeking applicants to fill several vacancies on the Silver Spring Civic Building Steering Committee.
This Steering Committee has been established to insure continued oversight and input into the programming, planning and design of the Civic Building. The Civic Building program will be an important center of activity for the local residents and will support opportunities for arts, culture and education activities and programs in Downtown Silver Spring. The Steering Committee will assist in establishing the framework for the entity that will operate, program, market and provide fiscal management for the activities and events held within the Civic Building and the Veterans Plaza.
Membership will consist of twelve to sixteen voting representatives of Silver Spring's diverse communities with a majority of residential community members, and representation from the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board, the Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce, the local business community, and the arts communities.
Members will attend meetings once a month in Silver Spring, and additionally as needed. Subcommittees will be formed as necessary to provide in-depth focus on issues and broaden community participation in the Committee's work. The Steering Committee is expected to complete its work by mid-2004.

A brief resume including home and work telephone numbers should be enclosed. Applicants should indicate if they are applying for a residential, business, or arts community slot.
